Lesson Plan

Get cooking in your classroom with pork! Students will gain experience cooking with pork, while practicing safe food handling guidelines and learning about pork’s nutritional qualities.

The 'Make it Pork! Meal Kit' comes complete with all the ingredients needed to make Mexicali Pork Soup and a Teacher Guide to help direct student discussion and learning. Each kit is designed for one group of four students and includes the 'Student Resource', as well as the 'Protein Match-up and Pork: A Natural Source of Protein' brochures.

The 'Make it Pork! Meal Kit' is a collaboration between Manitoba's pig producer association, Manitoba Pork, and Agriculture in the Classroom - MB, with Manitoba Pork providing logisitcs for the meal kits. Meal kits are available to educators twice a year, in May and in November. Manitoba Pork offers four options to access the kit:

  • Free delivery within Winnipeg
  • Direct pick-up from their office in Winnipeg
  • Pick-up of an online order at a local gorcery store
  • (Shipping of all paper resources in kit, but not ingredients.)

Review the curriculum connections and teacher guide, and then click on the order link to take you to Manitoba's Pork's intake form. You will then be registered for the next biannual meal kit adventure!
